Frankley WTW

Seven Trent Water's Frankley Water Treatment Works at Frankley, Birmingham, supplies drinking water to Birmingham and the surrounding areas. Part of the £31.5m project to upgrade Frankley WTW, ESH supplied and installed a total of 1270m of trace heating cable to perform the following duties:

  • Provide frost protection to the water / lime pipework
  • Temperature maintain the sodium bisulphite pipework at +15°C in a minimum ambient temperature of -20°C

Our FBTBOJ10/2 heating tapes were installed to the underside of the pipework in a straight trace configuration and secured to the plastic pipe using type FTA fixing tape.

Stockport WWTW


Stockport Wastewater Treatment Works is the 12th largest wastewater facility in the north west of England. During recent upgrades, ESH were contracted to design, supply materials and labour to install a frost protection trace heating system to external pipework and vessel in a minimum ambient temperature of -20°C. In total 840m of type FBTBOJ self regulating heating cable was required to complete this project.

Jobling Purser Asphalt Plant, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne

The second part of this project saw ESH supply and install an industrial heating panel to a dispensing head. We also insulated the heating pad using armourflex insulation.

Charlton Court House, Somerset

ESH supplied and installed over 200 metres of trace heating cable to the buildings DHWS plastic pipework. The system requirement was to maintain the hot water temperature at +55°C in a minimum ambient of +18°C within this large country house.

Magnesium Elektron, Manchester

Our second visit to Magnesium Elektron saw ESH supply and install two runs of 40w/m trace heating circuits above hoppers, in order to temperature maintain them at +55°C.

Camfil APC, Hetwood

ESH supplied and installed type VCBOJ constant wattage heating tape to a large hopper and to the sides of it's cone. It was essential that the hopper was maintained at the elevated temperature to prevent plugging and corrosion.

Flint Ink UK, Wolverhampton


For this local project we supplied and installed trace heating to provide temperature maintenance on a large cylindrical tank. The steel tank, 2m diameter and 8.4m long, required maintaining at +70°C. Our design utilised type SC constant wattage heating tape controlled by DTC temperature control units.
